Detroit Pistons: Mock Draft 2.0 pick No. 9

player. 149. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Center. Beşiktaş (Turkey)/ OKC Thunder. Alperun Sengun. 9

The Thunder have about 800 draft picks over the next few seasons so you never know what they might do. In this simulation they ended up with the 9th pick and use it on international center Alperun Sengun, who is a guy most fans have probably never heard of.

Sengun is only 18-years-old but would give them another tall, versatile big who can pass, shoot and block shots to go with Aleksej Pokusevski, who has quietly had a good season for the Thunder.

The Thunder keep outperforming expectations even though they are one of the youngest teams in the NBA. Taking a guy like Sengun here would indicate that they are not going to be trying to compete for titles anytime soon but are playing the long game.

The league is shifting towards big men who are far more skilled than the bangers we used to see in the past and Sengun fits that mold.

If they want to build around two versatile young bigs, then I could see them taking a flyer on Sengun here.
