Draft prospects for Pistons fans to look for in Houston vs. Oregon State·

  Quinten Grimes-Houston
The best player for Houston, Grimes is a 6-foot-5 inch combo guard who transferred to the Cougars from Kansas after his freshman year.

His production over his three years have gone up exponentially: from 8.4 points as a freshman to 12.1 points last season and now all the way up to 18 points this year. Grimes has really worked on his outside shooting. He now is shooting a great 41.3% from on deep.

The biggest flaw in his game is his poor free throw shooting, shooting 77% from the line. He is often compared to Josh Hart, but I think he’s a more offensive version of Josh Hart.

If he were to be a Piston, he would be drafted with one of their second rounders, as he’s mocked in the pick 40-50 range.
·      Ethan Thompson-Oregon State
The PAC-12 all-first team member Ethan Thompson, has been the main reason that the Beavers are on one of the most improbable runs of all time.

Oregon State was the #5 seed in the PAC-12 tournament, but are firmly not a March Madness team.

After doing the unthinkable and winning the tournament, they snuck into the NCAA’s as a #12 seed and then won against #5 Tennessee and Cade Cunningham’s #4 Oklahoma State Cowboys. After the first weekend, Ethan Thompson carried the Beavers to another win against Sister Jean and the #7 Loyola Ramblers.

Thompson is another 6-5 combo guard who wasn’t projected to be drafted before the tournaments. He’s a great scorer with a big frame and he does have an NBA-style offensive game, with his ability to hit contested shots and step-back jumpers. Unlike Grimes, he’s a great free throw shooter.

As of now, he likely won’t be drafted so the Pistons could sign him to an Exhibit-10 deal and have him ball out for Detroit’s new G-League affiliate.
