Draft Prospects for Detroit Pistons fans to see in Elite Eight
Evan Mobley and Gonzaga players for Pistons to watch
· Corey Kispert- Gonzaga
Gonzaga usually develops prospects seemingly out of thin air, and Kispert is another example.
A deadly shooter who’s being compared to Joe Harris, Kispert has gone from bench warmer to lottery pick during his four seasons in Spokane.
The 6-foot-7 sniper currently is shooting 46.2% on his 6.3 attempts per game, meaning that percentage is accurate due to the larger sample size. Kispert is similar to Moody, where he’s in the later lottery rang. So he is in a similar situation, if the Pistons acquire a second lottery pick or if they fall, Kispert could be a great option, as he will be among the league’s best shooters immediately.
· Joel Ayayi- Gonzaga
One of Gonzaga’s three great guards, Ayayi is 6-foot-5 and out of Bordeaux, France. He’s a junior who is averaging 11.9 points per game on 56.1% shooting. Additionally, he has a very high 7.1 rebounds per game average for a guard.
There aren’t any pro comparisons for Ayayi, but he is another one of these secondary point guards that are becoming increasingly popular in today’s NBA. He is projected to go at the top of the second round, so he could be worth a look with the Toronto pick.
· Jalen Suggs- Gonzaga
Suggs should be the third or fourth player selected in this year’s draft, and would be a solid choice if the Pistons don’t get a top two pick to take Cade Cunningham or Evan Mobley.
Suggs is a 6-foot-4 point guard with a big frame and some of the best athleticism we’ve seen in years. Suggs was offered to be the quarterback at Ohio State but decided to play basketball at Gonzaga.
His pro comparison is Jason Kidd and Jrue Holiday, due to his bigger size and his ability to play at an elite level on both offense and defense. He has a high basketball IQ and great passing abilities.
He shoots 32% from three and 49.6% from the field so he will be a great pro player. Mocked as either pick 3 or 4, he could be the Pistons top draft choice this year.
· Evan Mobley- USC
I will be brief, on this one as there has been plenty of coverage on this site about Mobley. I am 100% sold on Mobley, as he’s been given the pro comparison of a Chris Bosh/Pau Gasol hybrid.
That’s due to his freak athleticism and his ability to spread the floor. He averages 16.3 points per game, 8.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 3.0 blocks, an absolute monster stat line that got Mobley the PAC-12 Player of the Year award.
