The Detroit Pistons notched their 16th victory of the season against the Sacramento Kings, who are in the midst of a free fall.

The Kings have lost five in a row overall while the Pistons’ win has them clinging to the third-worst record in the NBA.

The Pistons did what they’ve done for most of the season, which is play hard and compete, even though they were missing two starters.

With Jerami Grant and Mason Plumlee out with minor injuries, the Pistons probably weren’t supposed to win this one, but someone forgot to tell Cory Joseph and Isaiah Stewart, who were both fantastic in their absence.

The Kings have one of the worst defenses of all time, so it’s not surprising they were on the receiving end of career nights for a couple of guys, including their former teammate.

Here are three takeaways from the Pistons win over the Kings.

Detroit Pistons: Is Cory Joseph better than Delon Wright?

I wish I could take Troy Weaver shopping with me because the man knows value when he sees it.

Such was the case when he was able to ship out Delon Wright for Cory Joseph and two second round picks. What looked like a “meh” trade in the beginning now looks like a steal for the Pistons, as they not only got the picks but possibly even the better player.

Joseph has been good since joining Detroit and nearly all his statistics have improved while Wright has gone the opposite direction since joining the Kings.

Not only that, but Joseph’s contract for next season is only partially guaranteed so the Pistons can let him walk and pick up $6 million in cap space.

So the Pistons got the better player, the picks and the cap space while the Kings got a $9 million bill next season.

It’s really nice for the Detroit Pistons to be on the right end of something like this and I would like to take Troy Weaver out to dinner to thank him.
