Possible Pistons draft picks: Chris Duarte

Oregon senior Chris Duarte will be one of the oldest players in this year’s draft at age 24, but is still unlikely to make it out of the first round.

That’s because he is considered one of the best pure shooters in the draft, a guy who hit 42 percent on 5.5 attempts per game as a 6-foot-6 shooting guard.

His accuracy, range and size might get him nabbed in the late first round, so the Pistons would either have to get lucky and have him drop or use their ample second-round capital to move up.

With so many young guys already on the roster, Troy Weaver might decide that targeting one player with all of those picks is the way to go. If so, Duarte could be one of the targets, as he will come into the league with an NBA-ready skill that can help someone right away.

He is also a decent defender, so will definitely be on the Pistons’ radar.

Pistons draft picks: Isaiah Livers

Livers is a guy I have seen mocked to the Detroit Pistons several times, and for good reason, as he checks a lot of boxes for what they need from a second round pick.

Livers has good size for a small forward at 6-foot-7, and is a gritty defender with a high motor, things we know Troy Weaver likes.

Livers can also knock down 3-point shots, as he hit 43 percent on five attempts per game for the Wolverines this season before getting injured.

Given his skills on both side of the ball, he has a little Saddiq Bey energy and would give the Pistons another big small forward who can shoot.

I really like Livers as a sleeper in this draft, especially if he can prove that he is 100 percent healthy. He may end up going undrafted because of the injury, if so, being in the Pistons’ back yard could give Detroit an advantage.
