The Detroit Pistons will take on the Los Angeles Clippers for the second game in a row. The Pistons were feisty against the Clippers in the last game, as LA needed a big 4th quarter comeback to put them away.

The Pistons are still clinging to the third-worst record in the NBA, with just two games separating them from the league-worst Timberwolves and just one between them and the tanking Magic, who are right on the Pistons’ heels after losing six-in-a-row.

This last stretch of games is going to be stressful as the Pistons try to balance the development of their young players with their desire to get a top-five pick in a draft that has a few potential superstars.

With all that in mind, here are three things I would love to see tonight vs. the Clippers.

Detroit Pistons: A competitive loss

The Pistons have been one of the most entertaining bad teams in recent memory, as they are mostly playing close, competitive games while being led by their young players.

Competitive is fine, but this is not the night to get cheeky and win against one of the NBA’s top teams.

The Timberwolves, Cavaliers, Magic, Rockets, Thunder, Kings and Wizards are all playing as well, so a win against the Clippers could be bad for the Pistons when it comes to their standing in the draft.

The Pistons have gotten most of their wins at home and have played their best basketball against the best teams, so this is a night that has “weird win” written all over it.

As much as I love the Pistons’ spirit and the fact that they are not laying down, this is a night when a loss would be preferable. Make it close, great! But lose.
