Detroit Pistons: What are Saddiq Bey’s Rookie of the Year odds?

The Detroit Pistons finally have a Rookie of the Year candidate in Saddiq Bey.

It’s been a long time since the Pistons had such a promising rookie and right now they have four of them when you include Isaiah Stewart, Killian Hayes and Saben Lee, who have all shown flashes of being solid NBA players at least.

But Bey has been the standout for the Detroit Pistons, as he has broken their rookie record for 3-point shots made, has put himself at the top of an elite list of rookie shooters and has been ranked in the top-five rookies for most of the season.

Bey hasn’t gotten nearly as much press as guys like LaMelo Ball or first overall pick Anthony Edwards, but he has arguably been more consistent than either of them, especially when you consider that Ball had to miss a big chunk of the season to injury.

This year’s rookie class is much better than people expected and the field is loaded when you include guys like Tyrese Haliburton and Immanuel Quickley.

So does Saddiq Bey have an outside chance at Rookie of the Year? Let’s take a look at the odds.

According to WynnBET, Saddiq Bey has the 5th-best chance to take home the Rookie of the Year award, but it is a huge long shot with +5000 odds.

Anthony Edwards (-225), Tyrese Haliburton (+135), LaMelo Ball (+145) and  Immanuel Quickley (+1200) all have better odds than Bey, who is tied with Patrick Williams from the Bulls.

It should be noted that these are sports book odds, which do not necessarily reflect who has been better or how voters will see their rookies seasons.

Bey should finish higher than both Williams and Quickley, who are both clearly benefitting from playing on big-market teams that get more attention than the Detroit Pistons.

I would probably put Saddiq Bey 4th overall and I think by the time the season is over, that is where he will end up in the Rookie of the Year voting.

Considering the excitement around Killian Hayes and fan-favorite Isaiah Stewart, this has become a banner year for Detroit Pistons’ rookies and hopefully the beginning of some long-term success.
