Detroit Pistons: This is Sekou Doumbouya’s chance to step up

This should be a night when we finally get to see big minutes out of forward Sekou Doumbouya. With the Pistons shorthanded and playing the youngest team in the NBA, what better time to get some developmental minutes for Doumbouya?

He has been in and out (mostly in) of Casey’s doghouse all season, but with no other options, Sekou should get some run tonight.

This is a chance for him to play without worrying too much as he will be playing against other G-League level talent and shouldn’t have the pressure of a veteran player breathing down his neck.

Doumbouya had some big games last season but he has yet to break out in this one, which has been disappointing.

I did not realistically think Doumbouya would have a big breakout season by any means, but I thought we’d see some progress, which has yet to happen.

Part of this is that he just hasn’t had a consistent role or minutes this season, which makes it tough for a young guy to find his place.

Doumbouya could very well get the start tonight against the Thunder but even if he comes off the bench, should get plenty of time.

He needs to play his butt off tonight, hustle after everything, get after it on defense and be aggressive taking the ball to the rim, especially in transition.

Tonight is a night for Sekou Doumbouya to make some strides.
