Detroit Pistons: Killian Hayes vs. LaMelo Ball

This is a matchup that fans fo the Detroit Pistons will be watching for years to come.

There were many in the fanbase who were hoping the Pistons would attempt to trade up for LaMelo themselves, but instead the Pistons took Killian Hayes at #7.

Hayes has missed most of the season with injury while Ball is the frontrunner for Rookie of the Year and looks like a future superstar.

Hayes has shown flashes, and had a pretty good game when these two matched up a few days ago, but he hasn’t played any back-to-backs since returning from his hip injury and may sit again tonight.

That would leave fellow rookie Saben Lee as the only remaining point guard, so we are likely to see a rookie-on-rookie battle one way or another.

Hayes and Ball are interesting comparisons as they are very different players. Ball is an outstanding offensive talent, a guy who is already a wizard with the ball, but his defense is flat-out awful, as we saw in the last matchup as Hayes blew by him several times.

Hayes is a pass-first guy whose shot is still shaky but he plays outstanding defense, so I am hoping he’ll get some run tonight to try and show it against Ball.
