Detroit Pistons: Most Improved Player- Jerami Grant

Ideally, this award would go to a player who was on the roster last season, but the only player left from the pre-Weaver era is Sekou Doumbouya. The sophomore forward has shown flashes of his potential this season but overall is statistically worse in every statistical category. If Doumbouya can improve his consistency as a player this is an award that will likely go to him next year.

That being said, this award is going to the player who is actually in the conversation for the league’s Most Improved Player award. Grant has seen a statistical improvement across the board. His points per game improved from 12 to 22.3 per game, and his assists and rebounds increased from 1.2 to 2.8 and 3.5 to 4.6 respectively.

Beyond his statistical numbers, Grant has gone from a role-player on the Nuggets to the number one option as a member of the Pistons. While his efficiency has taken a dip due to a heavier workload, Grant has proven himself capable of playing the role of an all-star caliber player in the NBA.
