Detroit Pistons: Mason Plumlee’s trade value is at its peak

At 31 years of age, with a friendly contract averaging just over $8 million per year, and coming off possibly the best season of his career, Mason Plumlee’s trade value will never be higher than it is now. Regression due to age and his diminishing role as Stewart takes the reigns as Detroit’s starting center will certainly reduce his trade value in the coming seasons.

At this point in time, Detroit could get a late first-round pick or a protected future first-round pick in an upcoming draft. There are plenty of teams looking to contend or take a step towards contention who could look to acquire Plumlee’s services over the next two seasons.

Plumlee is not in Detroit’s long-term plans, and if they can get a decent return for him, there is no reason for Troy Weaver to not pull the trigger on a trade. Plumlee had a good first season in Detroit, but it might be in the team’s best interest if it was his only season in Detroit.
