Detroit Pistons: Furkan Korkmaz’s strengths and weaknesses

Korkmaz had a slightly reduced role for the 76ers this season that saw his minutes and scoring numbers dip slightly.

But he has a number of positive attributes that should make him appealing to the Detroit Pistons. The first is that he is a 6-foot-7 shooting guard who has shot 37.7 percent from the 3-point line for his career.

I also like him because he is still young at 23-years-old and probably has another level as a shooter. He has the stroke and size to eventually be a high-volume and accurate 3-point shooter in the NBA.

Korkmaz will also be cheap, which matter to the Pistons, as they are not going to have much cap space to make a splashy addition in free agency.

Korkmaz’s flaws are mostly on the defensive end, as he is a tweener who doesn’t have an easily identifiable spot on defense. He does have pretty good hands, averaging nearly a steal per game, but the question is who he would guard.

The Pistons already have several dynamic wing defenders, so this wouldn’t be too much of a problem, especially if Korkmaz made a leap as a shooter.
