Detroit Pistons: How NBA Free Agent Furkan Korkmaz fits in Detroit

The Pistons currently have two shooting guards who can’t shoot.

And while Troy Weaver is clearly building his team around versatile and athletic defenders, eventually you need to be able to score to win.

Detroit had a top-ten defense in points allowed but balanced it with one of the worst offenses in the NBA.

If the Pistons were to trade Josh Jackson, they would almost certainly look to replace him with a guy who can offer more from behind the arc.

Korkmaz also has the size to play some small forward, so could back up both the guard and wing at times and add shooting the Pistons’ bench units.

I like the idea of the Pistons having a bench with multiple shooters, especially since their starting lineup really lacks shooting.

Korkmaz would be a worthwhile gamble as a young guy with upside who might thrive in a bigger role, which is why the Detroit Pistons should give him a long look this offseason.
