Detroit Pistons draft picks: NBA Draft prospect Alperen Şengün

First off, the Pistons would almost certainly have to trade up to get Alperen Şengün so they’d have to be pretty high on him.

But if they could manage to grab him at the end of the first round or early in the second, he would be a nice fit with what they already have.

Şengün projects as Mason Plumlee with more range, so he’d have a built-in mentor already on the team.

Şengün would also be a nice fit with Isaiah Stewart, as he can stretch the floor and make plays while Beef Stew holds down the interior defense. He would give the Pistons a huge front court that was very versatile and would present a lot of matchup problems on the offensive end.

The Pistons are certainly not committed to Okafor long term, so if they could get him off the books, Şengün would slot in as the third center and would get a year to learn with Plumlee, who is one of the best passing centers in the NBA.

Şengün is definitely a mystery and it would be a risk to trade up for him, but if he falls in the NBA Draft the Detroit Pistons should consider it, as he could end up being then next great international center.
