Detroit Pistons: Trading Killian Hayes for Fred VanVleet

The Toronto Raptors are currently at a crossroads for their franchise. They underperformed and missed the playoffs this year and some think they need a soft rebuild around Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby.

But it was just announced that Siakam is going to miss 5 months after undergoing surgery, so that “soft” rebuild might have just turned into a tear down.

The Raptors could choose to bring Kyle Lowry back and run it back with what they have left, but that would likely leave them in the lottery once again.

It makes sense to re-sign Lowry and make this trade, as he could then mentor the young Hayes, who has some similar qualities as Lowry did when he first entered the league.

Plumlee is really just to make the salaries work but is a low-cost contributor who could be dealt for more assets.

If the Raptors think it is time to start over and build around their two forwards, then this trade makes a lot of sense, as they could get a lottery pick who is still a teenager to go along with whatever they get in the 2021 NBA Draft, which would be a start to a new foundation.

But would the Detroit Pistons consider this?
