Detroit Pistons draft picks: NBA Draft prospect Tre Mann

Mann is usually mocked at the end of the first round or the beginning of the second, so the Detroit Pistons would have to either get lucky and have him fall into their laps or try to move up to the first round.

Mann is definitely a Troy Weaver type, as he has good size and should be able to defend all over on the perimeter. He can also shoot, which is something the Pistons desperately need.

My guess is that Mann will reinvent himself as more of a 3-and-D player in the NBA, a guy who plays more off the ball and will defend up.

Do the Pistons need another combo guard? The answer is yes, as versatile players are more valuable than guys who are limited to one thing and Mann is a plus athlete who should be able to carve out a niche if he dedicates himself on the defensive end.

I think Weaver’s plan is to collect as many long, versatile defenders as possible and then hope they add their superstar in the draft or via trade.

Once they do, the role players and defenders will be there waiting, so if the Pistons nail this draft, they could be in the playoffs sooner rather than later, much like the way Atlanta was able to make a leap after drafting Trae Young.

Mann would be a steal if he fell to the second round and will likely get a long look from the Derwoit Pistons if he does.
