This year is shaping up to be one of the biggest for the Detroit Pistons and legend Ben Wallace.

Wallace was recently inducted into the basketball Hall-of-Fame, getting some much-deserved recognition after a career as one of the best defensive players of all time.

The Pistons are coming off a 20-win season, but finally have a chance at a top pick in the NBA Draft, and we will find out where they will be picking tomorrow during the NBA Draft Lottery.

The Pistons are obviously hoping to land the top pick, but anything in the top-five would be a win for a fan base that is desperate to get a star and get back into the playoffs.

Detroit Pistons: What are the Pistons’ lottery odds?

The Pistons will have a chance to get that guy as long as they can get some luck in the NBA Draft Lottery. The Pistons will have a 14 percent chance at the number one overall pick and a 52.1 percent chance of landing in the top four.

Considering there are four players in Cade Cunningham, Evan Mobley, Jalen Green and Jalen Suggs who are thought to be potential stars, the Detroit Pistons would be devastated if they fell out of the top four.

The Pistons have never moved up in the lottery with their own pick and are looking for that to finally change tomorrow.

That’s why they are sending their good luck charm, Ben Wallace.

Detroit Pistons NBA Draft Lottery: Ben Wallace has brought good luck to the Pistons in the past

If you look at the career of Ben Wallace, it was defined by being an underdog who was always bucking the odds.

He went undrafted before eventually catching on with the Wizards and then being traded to the Magic. Wallace was an afterthought in the trade that included multiple players and was lucky to even stay in the league.

After one decent season in Orlando where he averaged 4.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.6 blocks, Wallace was again traded as part of a package for Grant Hill, a trade that most considered extremely lopsided in favor of the Magic.

Someone forgot to tell Ben Wallace.

Wallace immediately made an impact for the Detroit Pistons and went on to win Defensive Player of the Year four times, while making four All-Star teams and five All-NBA teams and winning a title.

That Hill trade turned out to be one of the luckiest moves the Detroit Pistons ever made, as Wallace evolved into the key piece of the Goin’ to Work era while Grant Hill was never the same player after leaving Detroit.

Ben Wallace made his own luck through hard work, but he is symbolic of a better time in Detroit, one that they are trying to return to, so what better person to represent them in the NBA Draft Lottery?
