It’s been a big offseason for the Detroit Pistons. Not only did they win the number one overall pick in the NBA Draft, but it was announced that Jerami Grant would join Team USA for the Tokyo Olympics.

Grant was awarded the final roster spot, which was somewhat surprising, as there were still a ton of great players to choose from.

But every Olympic team needs guys like Grant, unselfish players who can defend multiple positions and won’t mind doing the little things to help the team win.

It was great to see Grant rewarded for his breakout season in Detroit, and the Tokyo Olympics might be just the thing to push his game to another level.

Detroit Pistons: Jerami Grant vs. the best in the world

Team USA will be the favorite to take home gold, as they have been in every Olympics since professional players joined the mix.

But the competition has gotten a lot better since the original Dream Team walked through the 1992 Olympics without breaking a sweat, so Grant will be involved in some competitive games this Summer instead of just working out alone in a gym.

Not only that, but he’ll be going up against elite NBA talent every day in practice. This is one of the best teams in years and Jerami Grant is going to be getting daily reps vs. a tough and talented group:

What was possibly the greatest NBA game ever played was a Dream Team practice, a legendary scrimmage that featured nine future Hall of Famers.

While this squad is certainly not the original Dream Team, I guarantee these guys are going to go at each other every day in practice, and Jerami Grant is going to be bodying guys like Kevin Durant and Jayson Tatum every day, which can only help his game.

He was the number one scoring option for the Pistons last season and his offensive game will get a boost from going up against elite defenders like Jrue Holiday, Draymond Green and Bam Adebayo.

Grant is the type of Swiss Army knife player who can fit into just about any lineup, so I imagine he will get plenty of run in the real games as well.

Grant was a fringe All-Star last season and hopes to get there next season after honing his craft against the best players in the world.

It’s an exciting time to be a Detroit Pistons fan. Jerami Grant predicted that the Pistons will do “big things” next season and he is going to be one of the players leading the way.
