Detroit Pistons: NBA Mock Draft 5.0 pick No. 17

Baylor / Memphis Grizzlies. 17. 211. Pick Analysis. Guard. player. Scouting Report. Jared Butler

The Grizzlies love players who are hard-nosed defenders and they will also want a guy who can come in and play right away and Butler fits that criteria.

He is a versatile and tough defender who can guard a couple of spots and would be a good fit with Ja Morant and Dillon Brooks, who would give them two long and switchable defenders on the perimeter.

This will be a theme with Morant, as he is not much of a defender himself, so the Grizzlies will just keep collecting guys like Butler while adding three point shooting around Morant.

I think he is a nice fit on Memphis and they’d be happy to get him here, as some feel he will be even better than teammate Davion Mitchell.
