When the Detroit Pistons traded for Hamidou Diallo, they did so with the intention of re-signing him for the long term.

His 20 games for Detroit were up and down, as he had some huge games, but also suffered an injury that kept him out of the lineup and hampered his play.

He did flash some exciting potential and is the type of player the Detroit Pistons have been targeting, as he is long, athletic and can defend multiple positions.

Diallo also showcased an improving 3-point shot, and if he can start hitting those, he’ll be a contributor in the league for a long time.

The Pistons are also trying to target high character guys with a strong work ethic, as well as players who can contribute to communities off the court.

Hamidou Diallo is showing he will do just that.

Detroit Pistons: Hamidou Diallo’s clean water project in Guinea

Hamidou Diallo’s parents come from Guinea, a small West African country where malnutrition and Malaria are serious problems related to a lack of clean water.

Diallo recently posted pictures of his Clean Water for Guinea project, which hopes to help with these issues.

He also hosted a basketball camp, showing off some of his signature dunks in the process to the delight of the crowd.

It’s great to see NBA players giving back, especially in a region where projects like this can make a huge difference.

The state of Michigan knows all about these types of problems, as the city of Flint has been without drinkable water FOR YEARS, a crisis that deserves more national attention.

Diallo is helping to bring these issues to the forefront and is showing the type of character and drive the Detroit Pistons hope to build around for the future.

Let’s hope the Pistons re-sign Diallo to a contract extension that keep his talents, both on the court and off,  in Detroit for a long time.
