Detroit Pistons: Possible NBA free agents, small forward Torrey Craig

There are two options I like at small forward, but I already wrote about Doug McDermott, so I will go with Torrey Craig here.

Craig is one of those guys who flies under the radar but provides little things that good teams need. He was in the Finals last season on the Nuggets and played a big role as a defensive stopper and glue guy, and has played a similar role for the Suns this season.

I was pretty surprised when he signed for the league minimum and if he is willing to do that again, the Pistons should jump at it, as he is a guy who fits right in with the culture they are trying to build.

Craig is one of those guys who relishes the challenge of guarding the other team’s best player and he can defend multiple positions.

His 3-point shot has improved and he sets the tone with his hustle. Teammates love him and always rave about him and his importance to a winning team.

If the Pistons could use their mid-level exception to get both McDermott and Craig, that might be all they need out of free agency, as they’d get a shooter and a defender. They probably won’t come that cheap but that would be a good offseason in my opinion.
