Detroit Pistons: Add the right role players around your star

Once the Suns and Bucks got their star in the Draft they had to build around them, which isn’t as easy as it sounds.

It takes the right mixture of youth and veterans, as you want some players who are the same age as your star but also a few who are a bit older, guys with experience that is beneficial to a young team.

The Suns have added guys like Mikal Bridges, Jae Crowder, Cameron Payne, Dario Saric and Torrey Craig. These guys aren’t household names but all play valuable roles for the team and offer the Suns a mixture of experience and skillsets.

The Bucks added guys like Brook Lopez, P.J. Tucker and Donte DiVincenzo, role players who all know their job and do it well.

The Detroit Pistons already have several of these guys, in players like Mason Plumlee, Saddiq Bey, Isaiah Stewart (though I think they can be more than just a role players), Josh Jackson and Frank Jackson.

The final step is to lurk around waiting for the moment to make a big trade.
