Detroit Pistons: Cade Cunningham will be the best player in the NBA Draft

The final reason the Detroit Pistons will take Cade Cunningham in the NBA Draft is simple: He’s the best player.

I don’t often make predictions like this because the NBA Draft is a complete crapshoot and there are some very good players in this one.

Jalen Green has the skillset and attitude to be a star, but Cade is a better playmaker, just as good a scorer and has the chance to be a much better defender. I love the chip on Green’s shoulder but Cade is the type of player who can make everyone better and I don’t see that with Green.

Same with Mobley, who has the chance to be special as well, especially defensively. But if his offensive game doesn’t evolve he’ll be like a lot of other guys in the league, an athletic rim runner who can defend. I’m sure he’ll be very good but I don’t see him changing the course of a franchise.

Suggs reminds me a lot of Tyrese Haliburton, a very solid playmaker who is very smart and will make any team better. Are either of them going to be a superstar?

Cade Cunningham not only has the physical traits, but I’ve watched a lot of interviews and he is a smart player who understands the game and has the desire to be great. As he puts on strength, he is going to have physical advantages that other guys in the top-5 just don’t have.

He can score from all over, defend 1-4 and has the kind of mentality to make a whole team better. He’s got LeBron James tendencies and even though he is not as big or quick as LeBron, he has that ability to slow down games and figure out exactly what he needs to do to win them.

Watch these highlights and tell me this guy isn’t going to be a superstar.

Teams are going to make offers, the Pistons will listen, and we will write about them, but in the end, no team really has a package worth considering and having a number one pick is just too much to pass up, so Cade Cunningham is coming to Detroit.
