Detroit Pistons: 3 things Deividas Sirvydis must improve to earn minutes
When discussing the future of the Detroit Pistons Deividas Sirvydis is a name that often gets left out.
Saddiq Bey and Isaiah Stewart rightfully got all of the attention as rookies, and now with Cade Cunningham on the way, Deividas Sirvydis is operating under the radar this offseason.
He rarely played in his rookie season, logging just 20 games, most of them near the end of the season, but Sirvydis did show some flashes of how he can eventually help the Pistons.
He had his best game against Denver, where he scored 16 points in the first half and looked like the best offensive player on the floor for a stretch. The Detroit Pistons lack scoring and shooting, so can’t overlook any opportunity to improve in those areas, which is why Sirvydis is going to get a chance to compete for minutes.
But will he be able to earn any on a team that has several shooting guards already? If so, he will need to improve in a few areas this offseason.
Detroit Pistons: Deividas Sirvydis needs to get stronger
The first thing that sticks out about Deividas Sirvydis is that he looks like he’s about 14-years-old when running around with NBA players.
He actually did put on some muscle during last season, but he still needs to hit the weight room if he is going to play consistently off the bench.
The Pistons could use another wing behind Saddiq Bey, but right now Sirvydis isn’t strong enough to guard a lot of small forwards and isn’t quick enough to stay in front of two-guards. He probably isn’t going to get a lot quicker but he can put on strength, which would allow him to potentially get some minutes at small forward.
But the truth is that Sirvydis is not going to get minutes because of his defense.
