Detroit Pistons: 3 things Deividas Sirvydis must improve to earn minutes
Detroit Pistons: Deividas Sirvydis needs to be aggressive looking for his shot when he does get minutes
Deividas Sirvydis is not on the Detroit Pistons because of his lock down defense, he’s there because he can score.
When he gets into the game, he needs to let it fly, not worry about missing shots and try to make the other team react to his presence.
This is how Frank Jackson went from a backup point guard who was nearly out of the league to a guy who was one of the Pistons’ primary bench options last season.
Jackson was aggressive when he got in the game and looked to score to make an instant impact off the bench. He didn’t hesitate to take 3-point shots when he had them or to push the tempo on the break.
Sirvydis can learn from this, as he too could be that “instant offense” option for the Detroit Pistons off the bench. He needs to realize that he is not going to get a ton of time, so make the most of it, get in there and shoot and don’t worry about the numbers.
I think Sirvydis could be a difference maker off the bench as a scorer and eventually carve out a role for himself but he has to get stronger and more aggressive.
