The New Orleans Pelicans are desperate to rebuild their terrible roster around Zion Williamson and start winning before his rookie deal is up.
Keeping a superstar in a small market is no easy task, which is why I can definitely see the Pelicans packaging this pick to try and grab an impact veteran.
If not, they could go in a number of directions, as they need shooters and could take someone like Corey Kispert, but I think he’s a pretty big reach this high in the lottery.
Instead, they’ll go for Bouknight, an electric but inefficient scorer who would give them another bench option. They are already loaded at guard, but could let Lonzo Ball walk, which would move Nickeil Alexander-Walker into the starting lineup.
Bouknight would be an ideal scoring option off the bench who could take some of the scoring load off Zion and Brandon Ingram.
