Detroit Pistons: NBA Mock Draft 6.0 pick No. 8

Pick Analysis. Tennessee / Orlando Magic. Keon Johnson. 8. player. 38. Scouting Report. Shooting Guard

When tabulating the consensus picks from 10 different sites, this one was probably the biggest surprise, as it’s a pretty big jump for Keon Johnson, the freshman shooting guard from Tennessee.

But he fits with point guard Cole Anthony, gives the Magic a young backcourt to build around, and would give them a pretty versatile defense, as he can guard either spot on the perimeter.

He’s not a shooter yet but he runs the floor well, plays tenacious defense and will rack up the hustle points for the Magic.

This seems like a bit of a reach but if Johnson’s offense ever catches up with his defense, he’ll be a very good two-way player.
