The Detroit Pistons dropped their first Summer League game to the OKC Thunder and already the hot take overreactions are flying.

If you Tweeted that the Pistons should have drafted Jalen Green or that the Pistons don’t know how to use Cade Cunningham properly after ONE SUMMER LEAGUE GAME, then you should probably delete your account and take up a different sport.

Summer League overreactions are a time honored tradition, so we go through this every year even though we all know the games are ultimately meaningless.

I’m not going to overreact to anything I saw in the very first Summer League game, but I do think there were some interesting things to take from the 76-72 loss to the Thunder.

Detroit Pistons: Turnovers are going to be a problem

Like I said, it’s only one Summer League game so we can’t blow things out of proportion, but turnovers are going to be something to watch for the young Pistons this season.

Turnovers plagued the Pistons last season, as they were 25th in the NBA, which led to a lot of easy baskets for their opponents.

They committed a whopping 20 last night, which is not the way Dwane Casey wanted to kick off his season.

Obviously there were some nerves involved and some of the guys we saw last night will not be playing significant roles for the Pistons this season but turnovers are going to be something the Pistons will have to improve if they want to make a leap into playoff contention.

Killian Hayes and Cade Cunningham had eight turnovers between them, which is something we will be talking about all season as the young Pistons develop.
