Detroit Pistons: Cade Cunningham is going to fill the stat sheets

Cunningham looked a little off at times in his first game, which is to be expected, as there were a lot of eyes trained on the first overall pick in the NBA Draft.

Mostly what they saw is a guy who is going to fill the stat sheet by contributing in myriad ways on both ends and has superstar potential as both an offensive player and a defender.

Cunningham finished the game with 12 points, six rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks. He would have had several more assists has stone-handed Tyler Cook been able to handle some of his passes.

Cook is unlikely to be on the final roster, so Cunningham can expect some more dimes moving forward.

He also had five turnovers which is something the Pistons will have to live with as the young point guard learns his trade. Turnovers are almost always a problem for ball-dominant young guards, so we can expect that line on the stat sheet to be full as well.

I was really happy with Cade’s debut and think he showed exactly why the Detroit Pistons chose him first overall.
