Detroit Pistons: These 3 players need a big Summer League finale
The Detroit Pistons Summer League is nearly finished, with just one more game remaining for players to make their cases.
There have been some players who definitely helped their cause, specifically Saddiq Bey and Luka Garza, who have both looked fantastic so far.
There were also some guys who hurt their cases by not playing well or not getting the minutes they needed to either earn a roster spot or a place in the rotation.
Though we can’t take too much from Summer League, there are players who are desperately trying to make teams, so for them, these games matter quite a lot.
There is just one more Summer League game, this one against Orlando, and there are three guys looking to impress to either solidify a spot or get an invite to training camp.
Detroit Pistons: Luka Garza is looking for more than a two-way contract
I’d say that Luka Garza has at least cemented himself for one of the two-way contracts the Detroit Pistons have at their disposal, but he will want more.
Garza has had two strong games in a row, flashed his scoring ability and has not gotten completely trashed on defense.
In my opinion, he’s done enough to at least get consideration for the third center role, especially when that spot is currently taken by Jahlil Okafor, a guy who really only has one skill which is scoring in the post.
If Garza has another big game and we spend the next few days talking about him, I could see him continue to earn his way up the ladder and eventually end up with a spot in the rotation.
Garza’s skill and energy have been impressive and I think Pistons’ fans are cheering for him to seize a bigger role.
