If you want to know about Cade Cunningham, you just have to ask Isaiah Stewart, as the two were well familiar with one another before becoming teammates on the Detroit Pistons.

Beef Stew’s La Lumiere high school team beat Cade Cunningham two times during Stewart’s senior season, so the two had a rivalry and some bad blood.

That is all in the past, and now the two hope to take the Detroit Pistons to the next level and set off an era of consistent winning in the Motor City.

Stewart thinks Cade Cunningham is the guy to get them there, as he has not only competed with him but has seen how he is in practice and the locker room.

Stewart believes in Cunningham and thinks he’ll be a perfect fit for the team and the city of Detroit.

Detroit Pistons: Isaiah Stewart on Cade Cunningham

In a recent interview with Omari Sankofa II of the Detroit Free Press, Stewart talked about why he thinks Cunningham will fit with him and the rest of the Detroit Pistons:

"“I see him fitting with me easy. I’m tough, hard-nosed, chip on my shoulder. I feel like he’s got that same thing even though he’s the No. 1 pick. I can just tell he’s a dog. I feel like in Detroit, that’s what this team needs to be surrounded by is tough, hard-nosed players who put they construction hat on, go to work every night. And I can see him meshing with the rest of the guys pretty well. That’s the culture we’re trying to build.”"

This almost sounds like an answer that Troy Weaver might give, as Stewart talked about the “culture” they are trying to build and used terms like “hard-nosed”  and talked about putting on a his hard hat to go to work.

This is exactly what fans of the Pistons want to hear, as we have always appreciated players with a blue collar attitude who value toughness and defense over looking pretty.

Cade Cunningham has superstar potential in Detroit, not just because of his skill but because he has embraced the culture of the city and is ready to go to work.

I can’t wait to see he and Beef Stew in action as teammates after they had some great battles in high school.
