Detroit Pistons: We are listening but only if the price is right
Kelly Olynyk
Hamidou Diallo
Killian Hayes
Jerami Grant
We are now into the portion of the Pistons roster with the guys who will be getting most of the minutes.
The Detroit Pistons only recently signed Kelly Olynyk, who could be an important part of the development of Cade Cunningham and Killian Hayes.
But Olynyk is a veteran big who can shoot, and I imagine there are plenty of teams that might want his services and will come sniffing around the at the deadline next season.
Hamidou Diallo is only recently re-signed and the Pistons are high on his potential, but he is also on a team-friendly deal that would be easy to move, so if the Pistons needed a contract to help grease a trade, he wouldn’t be a dealbreaker.
I can’t imagine the Pistons trading Killian Hayes unless the pairing with Cunningham is a disaster. But Hayes isn’t untouchable either, as this is Cade’s team now and Weaver would send Hayes packing in the right deal if things didn’t work out.
I think that is a long shot, but at this point, I can’t put Hayes in the “untouchable” category.
Same with Jerami Grant, the Pistons’ veteran leader and best all-around player. There was a lot of buzz around Grant last season and I imagine there will be even more next year, as he is on a great contract for his production and would be an asset to a contending team.
The Pistons won’t be shopping any of these guys, but if they wanted to make a splashy trade, one of them would probably be necessary to make it happen. All of these guys will likely get some level of interest from other teams if the Pistons are terrible next season, and Troy Weaver wouldn’t hang up the phone immediately.
