The Detroit Pistons have a starting lineup’s worth of disappointment

The start of the season could not have gone much worse for the Detroit Pistons.

They are still missing number one pick Cade Cunningham, who will hopefully return soon, are the NBA’s lone winless team and just about everyone has played poorly.

The lone bright spot has been Saddiq Bey, whose offense has provided the only beacon of hope for the Detroit Pistons so far.

light. Related Story. Who gets dropped from the rotation when Cade Cunningham returns?

The Pistons are shooting just 25 percent from 3-point range for the season, and their half court offense has been woeful. The Pistons at the bottom of nearly every offensive category in the NBA and have had disappointing performances all over the place.

In fact, the Pistons have a whole starting lineup’s worth of disappointing players. I’m not even going to include Killian Hayes, who has also been bad, as I wasn’t expecting him to be great right away considering he is a 20-year-old point guard who has barely played.

The rest of these guys don’t have the same excuses.  So I give you the Pistons’ All-Disappointment team of the 2021-22 season so far.

Detroit Pistons: 5 most disappointing players so far

  • Frank Jackson
  • Hamidou Diallo
  • Josh Jackson
  • Jerami Grant
  • Kelly Olynyk

That’s actually not a bad starting five as long as you have no interest in scoring points because these five have been collectively broke so far.

Frank Jackson (22 percent), Hamidou Diallo (0 percent), Josh Jackson (21 percent), Jerami Grant (30 percent) and Kelly Olynyk (21 percent) couldn’t have started the season much worse from 3-point range.

Diallo is on the fringes of the rotation, Josh Jackson appears to have lost whatever preseason mojo he had going and is back to throwing the ball away and shooting like a broken catapult, Olynyk has also been chucking bricks, Jerami Grant still can’t find open teammates and Frank Jackson’s “instant offense” has disappeared.

I expected guys like Saddiq Bey, Isaiah Stewart and Killian Hayes to have some struggles to start the season, but the first two have been really good and Killian is about where I expected him to be, so this slow start is really on the veterans.

I didn’t expect the Detroit Pistons to win many (or any) games with Cade Cunningham out, but I didn’t expect them to shoot like they’ve never seen a basketball hoop before. Hopefully the All Disappointments will turn it around soon or the Pistons are going to be in hole that is too deep to climb out of.

These 5 sophomores are not slumping. dark. Next
