The beginning to the 2021-22 season for the Detroit Pistons could not have started much worse.

Number one pick Cade Cunningham has still only played one game. Jerami Grant has had to miss time. Nearly the entire roster has started off shooting the ball poorly and the Pistons are just 1-5 heading into November.

Fans are already throwing the word “tank” around and starting to dream about next year’s draft, which is not a good sign for a season that is only six games old.

It’s not going to get any easier for the Detroit Pistons, who are staring at a brutal stretch in November that could see their season ended before it even got a chance to start.

Detroit Pistons schedule: November is all about survival

We will get an idea of what this Detroit Pistons team is made of in November, which is going to be about surviving.

The Pistons play 15 games in November, seven of which are on the road and eight at home. Of those 15 games, 10 will come against teams that not only have playoff aspirations, but who think they have a shot at a title.

After three in a row at home against the Bucks, 76ers and Nets (who just destroyed the Pistons last night), things will get a little easier, as the Pistons head on the road to face the Rockets, Cavaliers and Raptors, though the Pistons probably won’t be favored in any of them.

They will then face the Kings and Pacers, which are the two most winnable games of the month before the Pistons enter one of the toughest stretches of the entire season. Just look at how they will end November:

  • Warriors
  • Lakers
  • Heat
  • Bucks
  • Clippers
  • Lakers
  • Portland

Can you say ouch? The Detroit Pistons may not be favored in a single game this month and are definitely expected to lose all seven to finish November.

It’s possible the Pistons will be in a deep hole by the end of this month, as it wouldn’t be surprising at all if they only won a couple of games, and it may not be that many.

I’m trying to stay optimistic about the season but we may be talking lottery odds by the end of this month.
