The Detroit Pistons will play tonight’s game against the Heat with Luka Garza the only center on the roster.

Garza is pretty much unplayable at the moment because of his defensive limitations, and though I like his potential, he’s a long way from being an NBA rotation player right now.

Trey Lyles has covered some minutes at center, but he’s not great there (to put it mildly) and is not a long-term solution. I do like a few of the small-ball bench groups with him at the five, but those can only work in short bursts.

Related Story. Isaiah Stewart may have been wrong, but I get it. And love it.. light

Kelly Olynyk is out with injury and Isaiah Stewart will miss the next two games after being suspended for reacting to LeBron James’ cheap sucker punch.

The Pistons were small before they lost both of their centers and even with Stewart back in the lineup, they may need another big.

The Pistons have a big man problem, but should they just ride it out until next season or try to make a trade? I don’t think see Detroit making a blockbuster deal, but there are some low-cost guys out there that they could probably get in a trade without giving much up.

Marvin Bagley III might be worth a risk for the Pistons

I wrote in detail about Marvin Bagley III here, so I won’t belabor the point.

He is a guy who has been coming up in rumors since last season, when it became apparent that he wasn’t going to be part of the Kings’ rotation of the future.

The Kings just fired their coach and are a hot mess at the moment, so they might want to see how things pan out in the next few weeks before they start the inevitable fire sale.

The Pistons won’t have the contracts to match up with the Kings until they can trade some of their newly signed players in December anyway, so this one is on the back burner unless a third team gets involved.
