The Detroit Pistons are 4-16 after their first 20 games which seems like a good time to evaluate how things are going and get a feel for the rest of the season.

The Pistons have shown flashes and their young players are getting all of the developmental minutes they can handle, so in some ways, this season is going to be a success no matter what.

The main goal for this season is for Cade Cunningham, Saddiq Bey, Isaiah Stewart and Killian Hayes to play big minutes and develop their games and that is happening.

I think most fans understand this, so I don’t get a sense that the Pistons’ fan base is overly angry about the terrible start, as most of us pretty much expected it.

But I think it’s also fair to say that the low expectations we had for the team in terms of wins and losses are not even being met, so some level of disappointment is also there. And the constant losing can take its toll on even the most optimistic fan.

I’d like to know how the fan base is feeling at the 20 game mark. Are you more optimistic, apocalyptic or somewhere in between?

How is the Detroit Pistons fanbase feeling?

I’ll give you four options for how you are feeling at the 20-game mark and you can vote below.

Happy with how things are going

You are happy the young guys are playing and expected them to be terrible, so you’re not disappointed. You understand that Cade Cunningham isn’t going to shoot like this forever and he is already good in so many other ways. You’re not worried about Saddiq Bey’s shot or Isaiah Stewart’s lack of explosiveness around the rim. You like Killian Hayes’ progress and think he’s going to be good. You like coach Casey for the most part though the lack of progress from some guys is starting to concern you. You watch almost every game win or lose.

Disappointed, but overall happy with the progress

You thought the Pistons would be a little better than they are and probably overvalued guys like Frank Jackson and Hamidou Diallo and may have put too much faith in the progress of Josh Jackson. You didn’t realize that Mason Plumlee was sneakily important and underestimated the Pistons lack of big man depth, especially now that Kelly Olynyk is out.  You expected Saddiq Bey to shoot better and Isaiah Stewart to shoot more, but still see them as valuable future pieces. You’re not sold on Killian Hayes yet but like what he does defensively and think he can be a Marcus Smart type player for the Detroit Pistons in the future. You thought they might sniff the play-in, so are disappointed with the record, but overall you’re still happy with the progress being made, though you’d love Cade Cunningham to have a big night shooting. You watch most games but aren’t gutted when you miss one.

Disappointed and think the team needs big change

You’re starting to sour on Dwane Casey and are starting to wonder if he’s the guy to lead the Detroit Pistons forward. You are skeptical of some of Troy Weaver’s moves, though you aren’t ready to start talking about him. However, he has assembled a roster that absolutely cannot shoot, so the GM has to shoulder some of the blame for being a four-win team after 20 games. But you also realize this is a young team and one of the shooters he did get is out with injury, so there is no need to point fingers, it is what it is, and teams full of 20-year-olds don’t win many games in the NBA. You had high hopes for a few of these young guys and think Saben Lee and Luka Garza should be out there more than Cory Joseph and Trey Lyles, but you are starting to wonder if any of them are NBA players. You thought this team would be pretty good and maybe even be a longshot for the playoffs. You’re fully invested in the football season at this point and check the box scores but don’t watch many games.

This team is going nowhere fast

You spend too much time on Twitter.

You think Weaver has made a string of questionable moves and that his draft picks might be overrated. You worry that Saddiq Bey and Isaiah Stewart aren’t that good and who knows, maybe Cade Cunningham isn’t that good either even if you’re not willing to say it. You think Casey is a bum who should be fired immediately and replaced with a young coach with a dynamic offense. You get ill if you see Cory Joseph playing and are starting to wonder if this team is ever going to be good again. You still break out your Ben Wallace throwback sometimes, but mostly just to wipe up your tears. You watch every second of every game out of spite and probably have a player as your avatar on social media.

I think I have been all of these at some point this season, sometimes in the same game. Which one are you?  Vote Here:
