Something has to give tonight when the Detroit Pistons play the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Pistons are on a six game losing streak behind some god-awful shooting that has fans wondering if this team might be shaving points.

I’m only joking, but when your team shoots this badly on wide-open shots, conspiracy theories are the only thing  that make sense.

The Trail Blazers are on a three-game skid of their own and are just 10-11, clinging to the 10th seed in the balanced Western Conference, where pretty much everyone except the Warriors, Suns and Jazz has the same record.

The Detroit Pistons are rebuilding, but it would be nice to get a “W” every once in awhile even though Detroit is headed for another chance at a top lottery pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.

Here are the odds for a tough road game for the Pistons, some fantasy bets and some wagers to avoid.

Detroit Pistons vs. Trail Blazers: Odds, spread, over/under

According to WynnBET, the Pistons are 9.5 point underdogs to the Trail Blazers on the road.

Other than the recent blowout by the Bucks, the Pistons are hanging in most of these games and I like some of the matchups they have with Portland, so while I can’t recommend betting the Pistons to win, taking the points isn’t a bad play here, though the -110 odds don’t pay.

If you think the Pistons can win, just ignore the points and take the money line at +350, as you will at least get better odds. The Trail Blazers line is set at -440, so the books are betting the Blazers will win but are afraid it will be close.

The over/under is set at 216.5. The Pistons have failed to score 100 points in three of their last four games. However, the Pistons are 5-5 against the spread on the road and 5-5 against the over/under on the road, so they’ve been scoring more and keeping games closer on the road.

Also, the Trail Blazers have the 29th defensive rating in the NBA, so if the Pistons are going to have a breakout, this could be the game.

If you feel like gambling, couple the Pistons winning with the over and pray.

Detroit Pistons vs. Trail Blazers: Bets fantasy bets

Will this be the game that the Pistons finally break out of their offensive funk? Even if they don’t there are some solid plays.

Jerami Grant has put up four big games in a row vs. the Trail Blazers dating back to his days in Denver. Robert Covington is a tough matchup for him, but I like Grant to go off in this game.

I also like Cade Cunningham in a matchup against the Blazers smaller backcourt. Cade is going to have his hands full on defense, but should be able to get some open looks. Can he make them? That has been the big question, but Cunningham is stuffing the stat sheet anyway. Look for him to lead the Pistons in rebounds tonight and end up near a double-double.

For a low-cost play, take a chance on Frank Jackson, who had a big game against Portland the last time these two played and has been shooting the ball with more confidence of late.

How to watch

This one starts at 10:00 PM ET, not great for Pistons fans who wouldn’t mind sleeping on a weeknight, but you can watch it on Bally Sports Detroit. You can also listen at 97.1 FM The Ticket if you are so inclined.
