The good news is that the Detroit Pistons showed some promising signs against the Phoenix Suns but the bad news is that they still lost the game.

This is how it went for the Pistons, as every good thing was balanced by a bad one. It’s almost as if the Pistons are on some kind of cosmic teeter-totter that immediately adjusts if the good side starts to tip the balance.

This Suns game more or less represented the season, as the Pistons played well enough at times to stay close but were still undone by mistakes, short blasts of awful play and a lack of focus.

Detroit Pistons: Good News/Bad News

1st quarter vs. the 3rd quarter

The good news is that the Detroit Pistons scored 30 points in the 3rd quarter against the Suns and only allowed 18, going on a 17-2 run at one point that had them right back in the game.

The Pistons were getting good shots, contesting everything and Cade Cunningham showed why he was the number one pick, as he was getting buckets from all over the place and pretty much scoring at will.

The bad news is that it didn’t really matter because the Pistons were already in too big a hole because of their lousy first quarter.

The Pistons have been crapping the bed at least one quarter per game, and have a nasty habit of having at least one quarter where they don’t score 20 points, as was the case in the first last night, when they were outscored 30-18, making their great 3rd quarter irrelevant.

The young Pistons have to be more consistent and play a full 48 minutes to have a chance, and right now, they are not doing that.
