The Detroit Pistons haven’t won in over a month and have the worst record in the NBA, so now seems like the ideal time to experiment with a few things.

Player development is obviously the most important thing this season and the Pistons are getting plenty of it, with all of their young guys logging big minutes.

But they should also be trying a few things for future reference, as they (hopefully) won’t be terrible forever and could uncover a lineup or strategy that will benefit them in the future.

Here are four things I’d love to see the Detroit Pistons try whilst they have nothing to lose in a rebuilding year that has turned into a full-on tank job.

The Detroit Pistons should try Saddiq Bey at center

One thing has become clear since Jerami Grant went out with injury, which is that Saddiq Bey probably isn’t a small forward.

Bey is better at defending power forwards than wings or guards, who mostly blow by him on the perimeter.

With so few teams using a traditional center these days, I’d love to see what Bey can do at the five, as it would give the Pistons a chance to put their best offensive players on the floor at the same time.

Bey is strong enough not to get pushed around in the paint and not that many teams have a true post center anyway.

Detroit is last in the NBA in rebounding, so it’s not like they would be taking away from a strength, and having five guys on the floor who are a threat to score could put a jolt in their league-worst offense in stretches.
