It seems like just about every half decent team in the NBA is interested in trading for Jerami Grant, which is great for the Detroit Pistons.

I’ve long said that the Pistons don’t have to trade Grant and that they shouldn’t unless the right deal comes along.

Detroit has all of the leverage and can create a bidding war between contenders, holding out for the best possible deal.

Jalen Smith should be on the Pistons' radar. light. Related Story

The Atlanta Hawks might be one of the teams in the mix, as they are looking to deal from their surplus to bring back an impact player according to Sam Amick of the Athletic:

With Grant being one of the few impact players that seem to be available, the Detroit Pistons are obviously going to get mentioned as a potential trade partner.

But does this trade make sense for either team?

Detroit Pistons: Trading Jerami Grant to the Atlanta Hawks

The Hawks are one of the most disappointing teams in the NBA this season, as they made the Eastern Conference Finals last year and expected to be in the mix again in this one.

Instead they are 17-20, good for 12th place in the East, with a few of their guys regressing after last season’s improbable run.

But with so many teams bunched together in the standings, the Hawks are just two games away from the 7th seed, so their season is far from lost.

A trade of Cam Reddish and Danilo Gallinari for Grant is close to working financially, though there would have to be another player (or team) involved to make the money work. It’s in the realm of possibility and makes some sense for both teams, though it comes with problems for both as well.
