Why a Jerami Grant trade is problematic for the Atlanta Hawks

The Hawks may just want to shake things up, as they have not played well this season and might think some fresh blood could change that.

But Grant is still out with an injured thumb, so any trade would be down the road, and by then, the Hawks may be out of it, or may have hit a groove, who knows.

The reason the Hawks are looking for a 2-for-1 trade is that they have a lot of redundant players on the wing and simply don’t have enough minutes for all of them.

But is Jerami Grant really a fit? The Hawks already have Collins, Bogdanovic, Hunter and Huerter on the wing, so even though they’d be trading away two guys, they’d essentially just be taking back more of what they already have.

Finding minutes for all of those players won’t be easy either way and I don’t see Grant as a huge upgrade.

If the Hawks think his two-way prowess would make an impact, then it makes sense. There’s also the fact that Grant is one of only a couple good players even available, so if they want to make a move to placate their fans, there’s that as well.

To me, this trade makes a lot more sense for the Detroit Pistons.
