Could Jalen Smith be part of a package for Jerami Grant?

I wrote recently about the prospect of the Pistons making a move for Jalen Smith, either in a low-stakes move involving one of their veterans, or as part of a package for Jerami Grant.

He is another guy the Suns chose not to extend, so will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, so if the Detroit Pistons really wanted him, they could just wait until then.

But if the Suns were to make him part of a package of players, adding someone like Saric, or in the best-case scenario Cameron Johnson and a pick, the Pistons might jump at it to get the best chance to secure Smith for the long-term on a team-friendly deal.

I would love it if the Pistons could get a high-ceiling young player for Grant, and though I am not sure Jalen Smith is the guy, he is at least worth consideration as a big who can protect the rim and hit shots from long range.

His skillset would fit great with Cade Cunningham and Isaiah Stewart and might allow Detroit to put Kelly Olynyk on the trading block to reap even more future assets.

Signing Bismack Biyombo could just be a depth signing for the Suns, as no team can have too much of if right now with COVID decimating the league, but it could be a sign of future moves to come.
