Trey Lyles has quietly been great for the Detroit Pistons of late

I’d like to extend my apologies to Trey Lyles, who I have trashed a few times over the course of this season.

Lyles can be frustrating to watch, as he sometimes takes bad shots and his drives to the rim can leave a bad taste, but he’s been fantastic lately off the Pistons’ bench.

Lyles has scored in double figures in eight of his last nine games, going over 20 points in two of them, including last night when he led the Pistons with 21 points.

He’s had the primary backup center duties with Kelly Olynyk out and has just been really solid since getting increased minutes.

He is holding his own against bigger players, getting on the boards and in general providing the kind of veteran presence Detroit needs off their bench.

He added two blocks and two steals last night to go with seven boards and was a huge difference maker in the Pistons’ win.

I am always the first to admit when I am wrong , so sorry, Trey, my bad.
