Next All-Star for Detroit Pistons: Future Player

Let the speculation begin.

Other than Cade Cunningham and Saddiq Bey, I don’t see any other future All-Stars currently on the Detroit Pistons roster. Don’t get me wrong, Killian Hayes and Isaiah Stewart will be nice players, but the All-Star upside just isn’t there.

So if not Cade or Saddiq, then who? The Pistons have two major assets that aren’t currently liquid: their 2022 first round draft pick and loads of upcoming cap space.

Many fans have their sights set on Flint, Michigan’s own, Miles Bridges. Pistons fans have long dreamed of bringing a local kid back home, but to no avail. In this case, the stars seemingly are aligning to make this a real possibility.

If the Pistons throw big money at Bridges, the Charlotte Hornets would have to match in order to keep the human highlight reel in town. In the world where the Pistons win this bidding war, Bridges has huge upside and could be the next All-Star in Detroit.

In a more sure sense, the Detroit Pistons will be selecting a top of the upcoming NBA draft. Some of the biggest names include a trio of freshman: Duke’s Paolo Banchero, Gonzaga’s Chet Holmgren, and Auburn’s Jabari Smith.

All three of these guys are uber-talented, with unique bodies and skill sets. As we get closer to the draft, scouts will better sort the order out at the top, but there’s a high chance one of these three is a Piston next season.

Now beyond that, who knows. Players mature at different rates, some are ready faster than others. I do know that the fastest way to get your next All-Star is to acquire talent and the Pistons will be doing plenty of that in the next few years.
