The Detroit Pistons finally move Killian Hayes to the bench

Killian Hayes was finally moved to the bench, a move that seemed like common sense to a lot of us.

Hayes showed some things as the primary ball handler for the bench unit, with a couple of nice takes in the first half and some nice pushes in transition.

It earned him more time down the stretch and he was in there in the 4th quarter, hitting two 3-pointers that kept the Detroit Pistons alive at the time.

He also made some crucial, boneheaded turnovers, two of which were just passes to no one, and passed up a couple of easy shots under the hoop in his best Ben Simmons impersonation.

The Pistons don’t have much choice but to be patient with Hayes, as this is a developmental year and guys have to play to develop.

I do like his fit with the bench unit much more and Cade Cunningham has benefitted some from playing with Cory Joseph, who is more of a threat to score.

Hayes is still very much a work in progress but I thought he had a good/not great game and showed that the bench is where he belongs.
