Cade Cunningham vs. Evan Mobley

Cade Cunningham thinks he’s the best rookie and I agree with him, but ask a Cleveland fan and they’d say it’s clearly Mobley and they’d have a strong argument too.

In many ways, this game illustrated the difference between the two players, as Mobley had a solid, efficient game in a measured role for the Cavaliers, and Cade did everything for the Pistons and put up bigger numbers with more responsibility and less efficiency.

You can’t deny Mobley’s effect on the game, as he clearly disrupts just about every shot at the rim and takes advantage of the chances he gets on offense.

But Mobley was being defended by Cory Joseph for a good chunk of the 4th quarter and the Cavs didn’t go to him at all.

Cade Cunningham, on the other hand, had an inefficient night shooting, but hung in there and did a LOT of other things for the Pistons, finishing with a 19/10/10 triple double with a block, three steals and a bunch of clutch shots.

The Pistons went to their young star at the end of the game and he delivered even after struggling in the first half. Mobley played his role and did it well, but he was not the focal point of anything for the Cavaliers.

This is what makes it difficult to compare the two, and I get all of the arguments for Mobley, but give me the alpha who takes over the game and makes everyone better, which is exactly what Cade Cunningham did last night.

Mobley’s team is better but Cade does more for his team, which is what makes this debate so tough.

I’m a homer, so I’m on Team Cade, and it was nice to get a win over the Cavaliers, who are clearly going to be the Pistons’ rival for years in the Central Division.
