The Rising Stars Challenge by the numbers

If you are counting that is 114 players from the NBA Rising Stars Challenge that ended up having some level of stardom in the NBA, though some are certainly arguable.

That averages out to 4.4 stars per season over the 26 seasons, and that number is actually lower because many of these players were featured more than once.

Considering there have always been between 16-26 players in these games, we’re looking at roughly a 25 percent chance that a player in the Rising Stars Challenge will become an actual NBA star.

There were also a lot of very good players who didn’t quite make the cut, and many of the players from these seasons went on to have great NBA careers as impact role players and champions.

So if we are going by the averages, which four players from this year’s team do you think will end up being stars?

This could be one of the best years in the history of the game, as this rookie class is amazing, and there are already two guys on the sophomores (Ball, Edwards) who look like locks to be multiple-time All-Stars.
