The Detroit Pistons and Indiana Pacers have both been heavily in involved in NBA trade rumors heading into the Thursday’s trade deadline.

The Pistons are a rebuilding team with one veteran asset, Jerami Grant, who is heading into the final year of his contract and could help a contender, so it makes sense that he might be on the move.

The Pacers have underperformed in a season many thought would end in the playoffs for them. Instead, they find themselves in the 13th spot in the Eastern Conference, mired in an unintentional tank, exactly where teams do not want to be.

Though the Jerami Grant trade rumors have died down in recent days, the Pacers have been cranking up their activity and the two could end up being partners at the deadline.

The Pacers and Pistons at the NBA trade deadline

The Pacers kicked off the trade deadline by trading Caris LeVert to the Cavaliers, which many believe is a sign of things to come for Indiana:

The Pacers still have two very tradable pieces in Myles Turner and Domantas Sabonis, though Turner is injured and may not return this season.

The Pistons are in need of a big man, so it might make some sense for them to get involved, though it may be in a roundabout way.

It really depends on how big of a rebuild the Pacers are going for here and what they might be looking for in return.
