Are the Detroit Pistons and Indiana Pacers a trade match?

The answer to this question really depends on whether the Pacers are going for a full-blown rebuild or looking more to cash in one of their assets for a fresh start with a slightly different roster.

If they are going full rebuild, then I don’t see a direct match with the Detroit Pistons, as the Pacers would have no interest in someone like Jerami Grant if they are looking to rebuild around youth.

However, if they decide to keep Sabonis as part of their core, I could see the possibility of a swap of Grant for Myles Turner, as both would help fill a need for the other team.

The Pacers need help on the wing and the Pistons need a big man who can protect the rim, so there would appear to be a potential match on paper, especially since the salaries match up.

Both players have one year remaining on reasonable deals so a straight up trade of Grant for Myles could work if the Pacers are attempting to compete and not completely revamp their roster.

Since Turner is injured, the Pistons might want an extra asset attached, which might be enough to send Indiana elsewhere.

It doesn’t seem like a move that would interest the Pacers if they are looking for young players and picks, but that doesn’t mean the Pistons won’t be involved.
