Pistons vs Mavericks Odds Tonight

The 12-41 Detroit Pistons hope to snap a four-game losing streak when they take on the 31-23 Dallas Mavericks at 8:30 PM EST.

WynnBET has the Pistons as 11-point underdogs and +475 on the moneyline (bet $10 to win $47.50) while the over/under is set at 213.5. Detroit will be without Cade Cunningham but did recently welcome Jerami Grant back. Will his return be enough to slow down a Dallas squad that’s won 15 of their last 20?

Pistons Injury Report

Pistons vs Mavericks Prediction

Detroit was starting to play some encouraging basketball before Cunningham went down, covering the spread in five of six games prior to his injury. But since he left the lineup, the Pistons have lost by 10 to the Pelicans, by 11 and 13 to the Timberwolves, and by 9 to the Celtics.

They have a bottom-five offensive and defensive rating without Cade and will need strong games by Grant and Bey to hang with a rolling Mavericks squad that has the 3rd-best defensive rating over their last 15 matchups. Dallas just held two great offenses in the Hawks and 76ers below 100 points in their last two games and is playing better on offense recently as well, making this a tough spot for Detroit.

I’d like to say the 11 points is too large a spread, but the Pistons road woes concern me. They’re just 3-6 against the spread (ATS) in their last nine road games and are 4-23 outright away from Detroit. Meanwhile, the Mavs have covered the spread in four of their last five home games and have beaten good teams like the Hawks, 76ers and Grizzlies.

Instead of looking at the spread, I’ll play the trends on the under. The under is 3-1 in the Pistons’ four games without Cunningham and an incredible 17-3 in the Mavericks’ last 20 home games. Dallas plays at the 2nd-slowest pace in the league and will be content to slow the game down against an inferior opponent.

Give me the under 213.5 (-110) as the Pistons struggle to score against one of the best defenses in basketball.
